inside photos of Quick hot air clone (not a good one)
« on: November 09, 2024, 02:38:38 pm »
tried buying a quick hot air station (the one that is very popular).  bought a low priced version on amazon.  that was the first clue.

I opened it to check and did not like what I saw.  did not even turn it on.  returned it.

photos here in case you want to see how some of the clones are made.

unmounted part of the board used the control for the BLDC fan maybe.

Looks like they used some motor with PWM input.

the AC mains filter is usually clipped to the back top inside.  you can see clips but ....

^It's screwed in original station. Filter is too heavy for plastic clips.

some manager: "your board has too many notes.  I mean parts.  too many parts.  just remove a few and it will be perfect"

they'd be able to find a filter that would be light enough to hold on there.

(lol)

I guess I know where amazon's loyalty lies.

I tried to review this unit (post a review on their site) and used these very photos.

much time passed and amazon replied saying it violated their policy and the review would not be posted.  they did not think the product was fake (or something; basically contradicting me).

hey, I tried to warn people with actual photos and that this was nowhere NEAR what a real (or even good clone) should be.  the unpopulated pcb is a huge red flag; but of course, amazon is paid by the seller to make the seller look legit.

it was only a matter of time.  it has been happening more and more.  amazon is defending the 'honor' of some of the crappier sellers out there.

its best to be aware of that.  the reviews are not being honestly honored and are being refused for BS reasons.

we need the next amazon to come up and put this one out of business.  this one has gotton too big for its britches.

In all fairness to Amazon, they can reject reviews if it is more of a review of the seller than the product.  Which seller did you purchase this from?  Tequipment or another?

However, I stopped shopping on Amazon some years ago and won't ever be back.  And I don't recommend them to anyone any more either.

it was a china place, with random chars as the company name.

no name on the box or manual.  no address.  no one to blame if your house catches fire.  just a seller who wont be around for all that long, very likely (they change a lot).

this was not claimed to be a 'quick' so maybe that is why amazon said its not a fake.  its not a fake, its a clone.  maybe I should have used that word but its only a small diff in meaning, here.  either way, users may not notice the lack of the 'quick' print on the silk screen and just go by the similar looks, alone.
