Instek DSO Erratic Horizontal Encoder
« on: June 24, 2014, 10:09:10 pm »
I’ve been having some issues with the Horizontal (time base) on my Instek GDS2102. When I turn the encoder it jumps erratically, sometimes increasing when I’m turning for decreasing and skips steps. For example I’ll be at say 5uS/div I turn the dial one indent and it jumps to 5mS/div or something. Sometimes it won't even register a turn.

I’m sure I’ve seen this somewhere on the forum and usually cleaning the encoder works. What’s a good product to use to do that, or any other suggestions on a cause and a fix?

Techspray? Or use a bit of Methanol?
I'm not saying we should kill all stupid people. I'm just saying that we should remove all product safety labels and let natural selection do its work.
