Title: Is there a DIY way to operate a desoldering gun?

So, just was hoping somebody could bring some knowledge to this, but does anybody know if there's a way to operate one of the replacement guns for the ZD-985 desoldering station? Sort of like UniSolder but for desoldering. (If there was a thread on this already, I couldn't find it)
