ISO New Software Radio Shack 22-805 Digital Meter

WA2SQQ:
I'm wondering if anyone knows of Windows based software for my Radio Shack 22-805 digital data logging multi-meter? It originally came with DOS software. Can't find either? Thanks in advance!

If you have a suitable serial cable and serial dongle for your computer, I would try plugging it in and seeing if you can see any data flowing just through a serial terminal program (on Windows, putty for example). You might need to fiddle with baud rate, RTS/CTS etc. Is there any technical description of that in the manual? The interface if you are lucky might be very basic: like type ‘r’ for read, and you get some bytes back which is the reading on the display. If you can figure it out then next you turn to python and make your own script to make it do what you want!

The manual didn’t provide any details. Honestly, I’m good with hardware, but clueless when it comes to writing software. I have seen several posts about software which was written, but have not found any.

You might get lucky with sigrok:

It looks like a rebranded Metex ME11. This is an excerpt from an article about someone making a custom interface module for one:

Fortunately, the Metex
meter manual included the details of the
serial communications protocol. The meter has a female DB-9
connector, and transmits and receives data as 7-bit ASCII with
no parity and two stop bits—at 600 baud. In the shorthand often used for RS-232C connections this would be described as
“600-7N2.” I ran one of my favorite terminal programs on a
laptop computer, SIMPTERM,6
and confirmed that when I sent
a letter “D” or a carriage return to the meter, it replied with the
readings. For example, after I hit the ENTER key it might reply, DC 42.034 V <CR>. “Very cool.” I thought, “This is going
to work!”
