Title: ITECH 8500+ Series (IT8511+) USB Cable and Software
Post by: AnotherAlex on April 28, 2018, 10:32:07 pm
I just ordered an ITECH 8511+ and am searching for a cheaper USB cable that is known to work with device.  Anyone know any working alternatives to the official IT-E122USB communication interface:

I am not sure if something like this would work:

Also, anyone know of any alternative software packages (e.g BK Precision) that is compatible with this unit?   Thanks for your help.

I have the ITech 8511+ as well, and use a Maynuo USB/TTL cable:

eBay auction: #112542793626

All these types of cables will work, just be aware that they'll all probably have a counterfeit FTDI chip, and will require playing driver hokey-pokey depending on your host OS.

The 8511+ does support SCPI as well as its native FRAME protocol, so you might have luck with other applications.  I just use the horrible ITech software.

Here is a link that shows how to make your own using a TTL to USB and a USB to USB 1000V isolator from Aliexpress.
