It seems Jaycar are selling a re-badge Hantek DSO2D10 as a QC1938  with a huge markup

Hardly surprising as for years they sold rebadged Siglents hundreds of dollars more expensive than us.
Pretty normal behaviour for Jaycar.

Interesting.
Perhabs, being a non-chinese company, GPL source code could be obtained more easily, just like it happened with Wolcraft?

Edit: Had a look at their manual. The terrible font seems to have been fixed, also they are showing the GPL license and the software used, so I sent an email asking for the source code.

What good does that bring. You need the FPGA programming and the actual scope code to make a difference, because that is where the real bugs are.

Having the kernel sources is still very interesting, for example tonadd networking support, adding usb-ethernet gadget.
Who knows!

Requesting the GPL source is an interesting exercise, if only to determine the professionalism of the vendor.
Some years ago I requested the GPL source for the 8846A from Fluke - they actually DHL'd a DVD from the US to the UK, a download link would have sufficed!

Yeah this is basically what Jaycar do. Any product you can find there is gonna be for sale online under a different name for a fraction of the cost.

I guess one upshot of that though is that Jaycar stocking it is like an inverted quality assurance stamp- if they sell it, it is absolutely, 100% guaranteed to be poorly designed and/or manufactured.
