JTAG Probes and Cell phone flash/unlock boxes
« on: June 06, 2014, 02:47:44 am »
I was looking for some documentation on cell phone that I found in my junk box and then I found this whole world of "cell phone flash/unlock boxes". Here for example: and looking at their capabilities I see that many support JTAG programming and NAND flash reprogramming etc. Like this one

Does anyone know what are these and how do they work? Are these just cheap, rebranded JTAG probes inside like J-link for example? Given that some have prices from $50 to $120 while J-link (also USB version) is around $500 it could be a nice deal.  They all seem to come with specialized software designed for specific phones so I am not sure if any generic dev tools Keil would recognize them. J-link probably higher quality tool anyway but I am still curious.
