Keithley 182 repair

Just got a defect Keithley 182 (with connector ).
Some docs taped to it say it was last tested 2006 and the display isn't working due to a power supply (5VAC,60VDC) failure. Added was the remark, that this supply block isn't awailable by Keithley anymore (only the hole board) . Seems to be used in many Keithley 2k products however ...
Build a new one (https://dev.xdevs.com/issues/858) or try to find a used one? 

Since it's said for these instruments to generally recap it, I  now ask myself: Give it try to check the display power block or recap first?

Would be a nice thing to measure a 732 against the 5700 ...

So, I guess you've confirmed that the described failures are truth?
Would be nice to have a good one to stare and compare.

Seems one way of fixing it  

Runnig it without recap and try the GPIB for readout ..  some risk .. looks like this thing hasn't been powered for more than 12 years ... better wear safety glasses

If in doubt, like an instrument that was not powered for a very long time, one could start slow with a variac or with a incandescent lamp in series.
This would give the caps a little more chance to reform without exploding.
