FlukeView Forms alternative?
« on: April 29, 2014, 02:26:36 am »
I just got a USB cable for my Fluke 189 II and upgraded it with the latest 289 firmware (as per Fluke's advice). I'd really like to get saved data off of the meter, and don't want to spend $200 for a FlukeView forms software package I won't use 90% of. I'm not opposed to writing my own if it doesn't look to onerous.

In my searching, I've found some cryptic comments on this board alluding to reverse engineering Fluke's unpublished DMM commands.

I've also found http://sigrok.org/wiki/Main_Page, which isn't really what I'm looking for. I scanned the source code and it doesn't seem to deal with stored data.

Can anyone point me to a possible solution?

Thanks!

From the description of the free version it sounds like you can view downloaded data, but can't actually download data from your own meter. Am I wrong in this interpretation?

I believe you wrong. I can read and download data from my Fluke thermometers with linked software without any limitations.

The one you're using now at your pc and hosted at your web site is known as popularly called "warez"  >:D version.

I installed the Free FlukeView software you can download from the Fluke website and the first window that pops up says it is "identical to the commercial version except that it cannot communicate with meters. Meters connected to the PC will not be recognized by this version".

i saw that too. Apparently it's to just allow one to see what the GUI looks like and display some data files that I assume they provide? But a comm program that doesn't comm with real meters gives 'free' a bad name.  ;)

I see they offer a real version (CV3) that supports my old 'obsolete' model 45, at like over half the price of the other versions.
