BK 393 peak± feature
« on: July 11, 2017, 01:43:24 am »
I'm trying to use the peak detect function on a BK 393 multimeter but I can't make the PEAK± button to do anything.

I see the P+ and P- segments during the LCD turn-on test. Though, they're never displayed during actual use. I tried pressing PEAK in different modes, with and without MIN/MAX, with and without manual ranging to no avail.

I believe this is a broken unit, but asking here just in case I'm missing something obvious.

Incidentally, I've had this BK 393 multimeter for some time but rarely ever use it. It has a couple of problems that throw me off:

  • Plastic hanging hook that broke the first time I tried popping it of
  • Washed out LCD back light
  • Battery indicator level that change widely between meter functions

I have to agree on the back light... worst I have seen in person.

The PEAK± button only appears to work in VAC(not mVAC) mode and you have to hold it in to enable and disable.
