It's par for the course for their marketing department, they've been doing it for years. 

Luckily for us we can do teardowns and stuff. The truth is out there.

I'm confused, how does a data line overload a dmm, and why is it wired to a mains outlet..?   

Not to mention you now need an adaptor to go from a firewire to a mains outlet. I mean, what could possibly go wrong with that..?

For the price point USD $26 I'm not sure what is the main feature. Series 618A,B,C do not have current or thermocouple temp measurement but seem to have a big display, be slim AAA batteries and no more rotary switch, which I've never minded.
"Zero FireWire Induction recognition" seems to sense hazardous live/neutral using one probe lead (E-field). Looking forward to trusting my life to that. "Dididi" alarm is three beeps. They really need to run the marketing ad past someone technical who speaks English.

I don't see why it has to show its temperature all the time, and with two extra leading zeroes to further annoy you with this useless information 0024C. Frequency also, do I need to see 0060Hz all the time? The second LCD display seems to be a waste.
