Hi guys,
TLDR: I'm wondering if anyone found a simple, good and reliable solution to get the On Screen Display from the DMM6500 to a PC via LAN, to be then used with OBS for video recording or other capture purposes...
I know there is an option to use the virtual display provided by the embedded webserver, but I guess a dedicated application which deals only with this streaming/capturing stuff should be much better IMHO.
For example I found there is such a custom-made app for the Fluke 45, called mdFluke (
https://www.dijkens.com/mdFluke/), which should be more than enough for my needs, but I don't think it can be adapted to work with Keithley DMM6500.
Long version:
For a couple of years I'm the proud owner of a Keithley DMM6500 (great instrument, BTW) and ever since I'm struggling to find a simple and clean solution for getting the reading of the DMM on my computer's OBS recording software.
For example, I'm trying to record a video of a troubleshooting procedure and I need some kind of overlay of the DMM's reading on top of that recording, at all times.
More precisely, I need the DMM reading as a On Screen Display to overlay e.g. on my microscope capture window, or on the top of my bench mounted camera video output.
I have my DMM connected via LAN on the same network as my PC, and the most basic solution I've used so far is to open the DMM's EWS (embedded webserver) in a browser tab, grab the whole display from the virtual interface it provides and overlay it via the OBS software.
However I found this method to be not just overkill, but it's also somehow dodgy, because it relies on too many factors: EWS operation, browser's window size and position on the screen, etc.
For example, if I open a different tab in the same browser, the captured image will change accordingly, which is very annoying when I'm trying to concentrate on the job itself and the expected image changes...
There must be a better solution, maybe using TSP scripting, but I'm not an expert on programming languages and therefore I'm asking for your help in here.
I mean, there are many Youtube content creators which are easily doing the same thing using far less capable DMMs... It will be a shame to not be able to do the same with a Keithley...
I also asked the Keithley support team about this subject, but they simply referred me to the TSP programming manual and advised me to start learning this scripting language (for which I don't have neither the time, nor the energy).
So if anyone knows an alternative solution, or if you compiled your own TSP or SCPI script for that, please share your thoughts...
Thank you.
