Keithley DMM7510, SMU 2450 & 2460 problems
Sparky:
Interesting that this report from dr.diesel is a similar sequence of button presses (starts with Quickset) that yielded a blue screen.
Makes me think that "Quickset" setup could be a where the problem originates...
HighVoltage:
In the last few years I had absolutely zero problems with these instruments.
I am also using Quickset a lot but not that particular sequence.
On the coming weekend I will give your procedure a try.

Thanks for the note, HighVoltage! I appreciate your giving it a try this weekend.
For what it's worth, I would say the problem occurs within the first minute after power up (especially during the time when relays and other things are still clicking inside the instrument). It seems that if the problem does not occur in the moments after the instrument is turned on then it does not occur at all...until possibly at the next power on.
I heard back from one of the Keithley folks (Brad O) via DM. He has raised my reported issue internally with Keithley engineering and also recommended I submit a ticket, which I have just done.
They will try to reproduce. In the meantime if I can find a more definitive set of steps to reproduce the issue I will update here.
Sparky:
Here is another problem that just appeared on my 2450; first time I've seen this issue.
- Like the previous "blue screen of death" I posted about, this issue also occured immediately after the SMU was turned on. Maybe there's something(s) wrong with system initialization under some circumstances.
Video: here
Sequence of steps that caused the problem:
1. Power on; system appears to boot normally.
2. Select "Quickset" > "Power Supply"
3. Settings: 4V, 1A, 2-Wire Sense
4. "Error -286" message has appears mentioning about "TSP Runtime error...".
Press "OK" to close the dialog.
- Notice in the image/video the text in the middle of the top bar that typically reads "defbuffer1" is showing the characters "}C}B,", which is very odd.
>> I started the video from this moment to capture what was happening. Watch the video to see sequence of steps.
Notes:
- "Error -286" message has appears mentioning about "TSP Runtime error..." I wonder if that means the error is script related?
- As shown in the video I do have a TSP script in the instruments memory, but I have not selected anything to cause the script to run. It seems to attempt to run the script itself...or perhaps the "TSP Runtime error" is unrelated to the script in memory.
- In the video I show going through a sequence of steps with "QuickSet" that has nothing to do with TSP scripts and yet the same error is repeated.
- I delete the script from internal memory and the issue still occurs. This suggests the error may have nothing to do with the TSP script in the memory.
- I power cycle the instrument and after boot it works normally.
I have informed Keithley about this issue also.
HighVoltage:
I repeated your steps and can not get any blue screen at all.
My two DMM7510, the 2450 & 2460 are running perfectly alright at the moment.
3 Years ago, my two DMM7510 have been 3.1 uV apart from each other in calibration on the 10V range and today, they are still 3.1 uV apart from each other. I find it amazingly impressive, how these instruments hold their calibration so stable.
