Title: Keysight (Agilent) N9914A recent firmware and time setting limits
Post by: Gribo on November 20, 2014, 08:15:30 am
Hello all,
The latest firmware from Keysight doesn't allow changing time backwards more than 6 hours per day. However, if it uses NTP, it can be changed to whatever time you want. I think it might apply for other instruments.
One more thing, if anyone uses these instruments in Labview environment, an update to the driver is required, as the IDN command returns Keysight instead of Agilent.

The 9914 has been on my wish list,  any serious problems,  would you recommend it or something else?

That's been the case for some time now (no pun intended) .. though for a while the NTP update never really worked properly. Fortunately it's been resolved.

The N9914A is a great instrument to use, the VNA time domain option is an especially handy feature!

It is a great tool for the job, that is RF analysis outside the lab in the cold, harsh world. I can say it saved me lots of money testing cables, antennas and amplifiers at customer's sites.

There is one on eBay going for about $7000 .. being sold by Keysight as a refurb unit.
