AXIOMET AX-6003P PSU does it Worth the money!!
« on: September 22, 2016, 11:36:59 pm »
Hi,
I want to buy 60V 3A power supply with CC CV capabilities, I have found this model on TME
AXIOMET AX-6003P
from here
http://www.tme.eu/en/details/ax-6003p/one-channel-power-supplies/axiomet/

The main reason for buying this PSU is for testing stepper motor drivers under more controlled conditions.
This is the cheapest programmable PSU that I can find from TME that supply 60V.
and BTW it is linear
Does anyone knows if this PSU is good enough for only 184USD ?

It is also sold by gwinstek in that form. I cant figure out an oem. Unfortunatly that psu model returns many similiar power supply options. So go for it...

So you are trying to say that Axiomet is not the original equipment manufacturer and it can be from anywhere, I really didn't think about it that way, usually I will assume that the name on the equipment is the OEM  :-DMM, I know it is not the case sometimes but if it work up to its specs so it is good enough !

Anyway, I will wait for other people suggestions, may be someone know about it!

Thought it was related to the gw-instek model, but it is not. It is smaller/ lighter, different key layout.

Hmmm I saw this and it reminded me of a Korad, then I just looked and the Korad is also called a 6003P!
Wonder if it's the same inside but with a different display?

  • Measure twice, then check calibration.

Hi there,
I have an AX-3003P, which is more or less the same unit with a smaller voltage capability. On one hand, yes, it well worth the price (mine was a bit under USD 200 here in Hungary). On the opposite side of the coin, there are some really frustrating drawbacks. Let me explain:
  • At least two times out of 5 output activation stops after about half a second and re-activates in 2 seconds due to "ADC RST". This failure is completely undocumented.
  • User menu is a nightmare. Everything you got is 99 independent memory items with different settings for voltage, current, OVP and OCP settings, but either the Recall and Save functions are at least stupid (if not worse).
  • Timer doesn't work, "Auto" mode is more like a guess than a useful feature, "Delay" mode doesn't work. You can switch OVP and OCP in the menu only.
  • PC connection is a nightmare, software is weak (from the 2000s or so),
  • least significant digit is only reading error, 0.1 mA is not an option (if set, current is between 1 mA and 3 mA), even when current is set to 0.0000, output is 0.0004. No set and actual voltage/current can be seen at the same time, meanwhile the completely useless T:00010s is visible.
What may I recommend? A more robust, simpler PSU without the programming feature and complicated display.
As a final word, some of Axiomet PSUs are re-branded Twintex.
