Hantek 6254BD with background noise
« on: June 10, 2018, 05:19:28 pm »
Hi all,

received the new Hantek 6254BD last saturday, ordered at Aliexpress.

Unfortunately the device is not useable at all. There is constant background noise
on all channels shown and can be measured. Does not matter if the input connector
is completely open or directly grounded with an BNC connector.

Did the self-calibration routine several times - no change.

open input, setting at 20mV shows 17.6mVolt background noise
open input, setting at 500mV shows 31.4mVolt background noise
open input, setting at 5V shows 314mVolt background noise

Connected the scope with the probe to the probe compensation connector,
(probe was set to 1:10) shows the noise in the squarewave too. See pictures attached!

Is this a design problem or is the unit faulty ? (OK, OK, or some would say: "it's a toy...")

greetings

wolderl

Does seem to be quite noisy, but I guess you found the 128x averaging switch?
Then the noise pretty well disappears.

I have noticed that sometimes the calibration doesn't complete unless I do a factory reset first.

Sometimes I've had to power it down and restart it because its signals were so distorted, but I was never really sure if it was the scope, or the FeelTech signal generator I was driving it with.

good luck
