Keysight DSOXPERFMSO - Almost $4k - Why??

(1/1)

EE-digger:
I know California harbors a lot of strange thinking but almost $4k for an MSO upgrade?  An MSO upgrade had been around $1900 or so and included just license and logic cable.

What am I missing with this option?  It does have the word "performance" appended but I don't see any specs that indicate improvements in clock rate, max signal speeds, etc.

Also, has anyone ever tried to purchase an MSO option sans cable.  I have multiple spares and don't want to pay $1k for yet another.  The scope is fully licensed otherwise and I'd like to keep it that way.  I am fully aware of the other wonderful "upgrade" options available and have enjoyed them  :)

Its the sticker price. If you don't like it, click the "Get a quote button"

J-R:
I think the "PERF" part is referring to the fact that this specific SKU is only for the high performance scopes, so just the 1GHz 3000 X-Series and 4000 X-Series.  The 1GHz DSOX3000 series is $15k - $20k, and the DSOX4000 series starts at $7k.  So the MSO upgrade list pricing seems within the realm of reason for someone who can handle such a price bracket already.

Were you maybe looking at this previously for around $2k? https://www.keysight.com/us/en/product/DSOX3MSO/infiniivision-3000-x-series-oscilloscope-mso-upgrades.html

Buying the license without the cable might be possible, talk to your sales person?  Another option would be to sell the cable.

TheSteve:
Wonder if you get a higher sample rate/more options, or if it just costs more because the scopes cost more.

MadTux:
Well, $4k buys you a nice Rigol or Sigilent and since Keysight is such a nice company, I'd reconsider, where I dump my money at  ;D
