Keysight N2140A probe maximum voltage
« on: October 07, 2019, 08:06:14 am »
Hello, the standard probes N2140A for Keysight oscilloscope DSOX1102A give maximum voltage 300Vpeak.
That's mean that i can't measure 330Vdc? (230Vac with full bridge and filter)

Here is the link.

It's rated for 300 Vrms CAT II in 10:1 mode. So 330 Vdc is indeed exceeding the maximum limit. Try a 100:1 probe if you need to measure higher voltages. Since you are likely talking about something directly connected to mains, you should probably consider a high-voltage differential probe for this measurement, since you don't want to clip your ground lead to either phase or null of your mains supply.

There are alternative solutions, like using two 100:1 probes, or connecting the device under test to an isolation transformer.

It's normal to buy oscilloscope Keysight and you need to buy separate probes for rectified voltage of 230Vac (320-330Vdc)?
This is not HIGH VOLTAGE. All of the rest manufactures have maximum voltage 400V.

All of the rest manufactures have maximum voltage 400V.

For a pure sine wave input, your probe's 300 VRMS rating would be equivalent to a peak rating of 424 V (VP = VRMS x √2). Be aware that the maximum AC voltage rating of a passive probe is frequency dependent (it decreases as the input frequency increases). For example, this is the voltage derating curve for a LeCroy PP008 10:1 passive probe:

and this is its input impedance vs frequency:

Thank you for your information. I had confused, but now it's clear.
