I've published almost 150 videos on the Rohde and Schwarz YouTube channel

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKxVoO5jUTlvsVtDcqrVn0ybqBVlLj2z8

Although the "market" for these videos is mostly professional engineers and technicians who work with test and measurement instruments, many of them are, hopefully, useful to electronics hobbyists (like myself).

Personally, I use YouTube to find information both for my "day job" (as an engineer) as well as for my hobbies.  Although some channels are clearly more "hobbyist" or more "professional," I often find useful information on the same topic from both types of channels.  I think most people would consider EEVblog a "hobbyist" channel, but I've used it for both work and for "fun" :)

(laughs)  I've done a few videos, such as "Understanding Range Gate Pull-Off and Velocity Gate Pull-Off", that are more or less targeted (no pun intended) at folks who work with missiles.

And? Nobody said that all of YouTube is for hobbyists only. What was said is that GreatScott’s target audience is hobbyists. That’s a very different thing.

Exactly, I was referring the YouTuber in question, not the full YouTube array of electronics focus channels.

I consider GreatScott's target audience as Hobbyist and Tinkering focus users, same way I consider EEVBlog and The Signal Path for Engineers/Electronics Students and advanced level hobbyists/old professionals in the Electronics area.

Marco Reps for example for me is both a mix between Advance Hobbyist and Thinkers sparked with some more advanced videos for Engineers and old professionals.

His approach in the design of the most perfect and stable ppm wise (in the realm of known physics) voltage source together with the CNC/Solar experiments/3D printing combined with product reviews and teardowns/repair of equipment is refreshing in terms of content that most can enjoy regarding their knowledge level.

--- End quote ---

Sure, you absolutely can do that, and likely will get away with it, so its worth the risk, so good advice.
But its also entirely possible if you win they'll ask for your info, figure out you are not who they are targeting, and disqualify you.

Metcal pulled that, had a typical contest sign up form, name, country, etc. nothing unusual. Get to the point that you win the contest, "oh USA shipping address only, disqualified".

That’s a completely different situation, and likely expressly stated in the fine print.
