Hi everyone, I am planning to buy an LCR meter and I need your suggestions. I am going to use it for measuring low values of capacitance and inductance of surface mount passive components. I don't need any extra features like biasing, remote control etc. Measurements like ESR, ESL etc. will be pretty handy. I am not going to characterize components, so, high frequency measurements is not a must. I want to see if the capacitor is 1pF or 2pF. In that regard, 0.1pF resolution for caps, 1nH resolution for inductors, 0.1ohm resolution for resistance is enough for me. I won't use it for higher values , maximum values will be 1mF, 1mH and 10M ohm. Since, I am going to use it for very small packages down to 0201, are tweezer ones more practical? Thanks in advance. |

For such small packages you'll need an SMD fixture. I'd look at bench LCR meters from Tonghui. Be prepared that the SMD fixture alone can set you back $200 to $300. |

So while high frequency is not a must, at what frequency you need to measure? Results will depend on frequency. |
