Hantek DSO5102B need kernel zImage , not booting
« on: July 01, 2014, 06:46:18 pm »
Hello

I purchased a Hantek DSO5102B 3 weeks ago, it worked for 1 day and after that it never boot up. I guess it should be latest HW version as the UART location was on the back (comparing to pictures I saw for connecting the debug UART).

after connecting the UART to the PC, I get these messages:

=================
*** Warning - bad CRC or NAND, using default environment

##### EmbedSky BIOS for SKY2416/TQ2416 #####
This Board: SDRAM is 64MB; LCD display size is: 800 X 480
Press Space key to Download Mode.!
SD:File System init failed!
Start Linux ...

 4194304 bytes read: OK
Boot with zImage

Starting kernel ...

Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel.
====================================

which the kernel never starts. I think the zImage (kernel) is bad.

if i press space, before loading the kernel it goes to the download mode:
#####    Boot for SKY2416/TQ2416 Main Menu      #####
#####     EmbedSky USB download mode     #####

[1] Download u-boot or STEPLDR.nb1 or other bootloader to Nand Flash

[5] Download UBIFS image (root.ubi) to Nand Flash
[6] Download YAFFS image (root.bin) to Nand Flash
[7] Download Program to SDRAM and Run it
[8] Boot the system
[9] Format the Nand Flash
  • Set the boot parameters
[a] Download User Program
[n] Enter TFTP download mode menu
[r] Reboot u-boot
[t] Test Linux Image (zImage)
Enter your selection: 3
Now, Please connect to USB cable and USB interface!

the device is connected via USB to the PC. at this point the PC detects "EmbedSky TQ2416 Board" , which I dont have any driver for that.

highly appreciate any help , I need the USB driver and the zImage to see if it can work.

Thanks
Reza

warranty case?

yes it is at least last hardware, which does have warranty.

after connecting the UART to the PC, I get these messages:

this is bootloader, so at least you don't need ARM JTAG, dnw.exe, driver for s3c2416 based uboot and zimage (can be then oaded via usb) would be enought.

highly appreciate any help , I need the USB driver and the zImage to see if it can work.

windows driver (for uboot mode) and dnw.exe attached.

Btw, below my deadlong Hantek/Tekway thread, which is normally a good place to post or find

No, thats only for device software for PC, and the firmware is only an .up file which can be used when device is alive. they dont provide more in their web site

Hi Tinhead

thanks for your reply.
I have read all of your posts and because of them I have reached to connecting the device to PC and testing it. I checked your one drives also but didnt find the kernel.

I tried to install the driver but seems its not compatible with 64 bit windows 7. do you have the 64 bit version or I need to run a Windows XP 32bit and install the driver?

I have contacted the Hantek but didnt get proper response. they said I have to contact the seller. Seller is in Shenzhen Huanquian market and I am located in Dubai :) , which is impossible to contact.
in the warranty card it is written that the costs for shipping faulty units is with Hantek, but they are saying that I have to pay the costs, and also not helping to fix this software issue remotely. very frustrating,

Im glad that you have seen my post and helping me.

Thank you so much.

no, i don't have any 64bit drivers, you will have to use 32bit Windows (or even vmware).

You might try this driver (haven't tested on x64, but someone else did):

hehe i know, they sometimes like that. It is always hard to get support for product build down to low price.

Im glad that you have seen my post and helping me.
Thank you so much.

you welcome! and if you like, you can support me as well.

Hi Tinhead

Thanks, it started working after I copied the kernel.   :-+ you are great.
I used the 32 bit driver on a windows XP running on my Vmware. Thanks for the driver.

Im trying to backup the entire nand flash using the nanddump command (the Tools_B_Models did not worked for me to backup, the binary file didnt run even manually).
do I need to backup all the 5 partitions (/dev/mtd0 ... /dev/mtd4) ?
