| LeCroy DDA-5005A probe options for full 5GHz bandwidth |

Hello I am thinking of buying a LeCroy DDA-5005A DDA to be used as an oscilloscope. Used units in ebay don't come with probes. I read in this forum that the connector type is different: more info in here: https://amplifier.cd/Test_Equipment/LeCroy/DDA5005A_XXL/DDA5005A_XXL.html Few questions: 1. If I were to measure up to 1GHz, can passive probes be used? 2. To go to max bandwidth, should I use active probes? Or can passive probes be used still? 3. Are there non lecroy probes that connect to the scope directly without a BNC converter? 4. The input is 4V peak to peak. Is it possible to protect this input from accidently applying higher voltages? say 12 V? Thanks S |

This class of oscilloscopes used only as HF stuff. They have 50Ohm input, uncompatible with BNC type 10:1 probes. You can use passive matched-line 50Ohm probes stuff, but only 4V peak to peak. Or buying Lecroy active probe with 5:1 or so.. |
