Can someone tell me what is this test equipment used for !

Thank you !
Vgkid:
That is a multiple range current shunt. The sense lines are hooked to the potentiometer terminals. The source lines are hooked to the common , and whichever current range you are measuring.
guizmo1967:
Thank you for your respond !

As I understand how a shunt resistor work is you measure the voltage drop across the shunt resistor and that way you get the amperage. (I=V/R)

With this device, there is 8 terminals marked like this:

Ohms     Amp
.2           .75
.1           1.5
.05           3
.02         7.5
.01          15
.005        30
.002        75
.001      150

And a common current terminal.

Can you give me and example or do you have a user manual for this ??

What do you connect to the potentiometer posts ??

Vgkid:
So you hook the volt meter to the potentiometer terminals. With this, you keep the voltmeter on the 100/200mV range. *Note* the max current would be to keep the voltage across the potentiometer terminal below 150mv/ range resistance.  An example 150mv (0.150v)developed on the 0.001ohm range is 150 amps. Idealy keep it to 100mV per range so 100Amps max.
For connections hook the common to the ground, and the the intended range to the load. Connect you voltmeter to the potentiometer terminal.
Do you have a model number, I do not have any manuals.
I can do a crude drawing, but it will be tomorrow.

A drawing would be nice !

Is this device like 8 different shunt resistors ??

Model: 553795, I found nothing on the net !

Let's say I just want to measure current through a simple 200W light bulb, how would you connect that ...
