HPAK 34410A webserver (and firmware)
« on: February 08, 2020, 03:18:22 pm »
Hi,
I've got a Agilent branded 34410A. I have no trouble accessing the internal web server but when I click the Browser Web Control tab it's all blank. I expected to see (and be able to do) what's shown in this video:

But all I get is a LXI logo, no GUI what so ever.

Thinking that perhaps a firmware update might help I went to Keysights website and hey have v2.41 while my instrument says it's got 2.43-2.21-0.09-46-09.

So the question is: Do I have 2.43 (an even newer version than what's available) or do I have 2.21 or perhaps even something else? If I do have 2.43 I don't want to wipe that with 2.41.

Thank you!
I'm using Windows 10 with Edge. I don't seem to even have Java installed on this machine and even if I did it looks like Edge does not support it. Great stuff :-)
Looks like I need to install Java 8 and use IE.

/Henrik.

You need to activate / install Java
And make sure all access to the particular IP are enabled.

The first time I did this on a 34410A, it took forever to get all the Java settings right.
Hopefully a newer version of Java is easier to handle.

There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

Installing Java 8, adding the IP-address of the instrument to the exception list in the Security tab of the Java configuration (or whatever), using Internet Explorer and accepting all the safety warning dialogs popping up does indeed bring me to the interface. It could've "just worked" but I suppose it could also have been a lot (like A LOT) worse.

About the firmware, I'm stupid.  :palm:
I was apparently looking at the "Previous version" tab on the website. Right next to it is the "Current version" which does say 2.43 so I suppose that's what I already have.
