I had to pay a princely 250 rupees ($3.45) for this gem. Just needed going over with isopropyl to make it gleam. Perfect!

Nice !
INGUN pins are the best. I have a huge collection from over the years on ebay.
Sometimes we can get really lucky with these.

Not quite a piece of test gear but I  picked up a GE 8KVA UPS at a sealed bid auction for $37.50.  On this one, the inverter is always running and it just switches power sources when line conditions warrant.  You can also parallel up to 4 units to increase load.  For the money, this will be a nice unit to experiment with going offgrid.  This is a currently supported product and list price seems to be in the $6-7K range.

If everything works, that is quite a remarkable offer!

My updated collection of soldering irons. The first Hakko 936 from the left was declared defective and undesirable at work few years ago. I don't remember what was wrong with it, probably cold solder.
The next two 937 and the 951 were declared undesirable where I work just last month. I adopted them all as a TE lover that I am.
The one on the right was built, details here https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/unisolder-5-2-universal-soldering-station/msg2341236/#msg2341236.

I think I'll give some for adoption but I haven't decided which ones.

Nice catch indeed if they work! Do you have a source already?

I have an old Russian 110kv 1kW stat. anode tube which I ran at 60kv and maybe 50W with my spellmann XLG X2364. However, spot size was huge and with the medical phosphor screen + camera it was just hopeless.

BUT, I bought one of these as well:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/113975474284 (Bid was 200USD)

Which has a 55um window at 55kv which should be great :) It is also tiny (50W) which means oil bath + shielding will be much easier.

Found two HP 5335As at the usual getting spot. I was only going to buy one, but very unfortunately... there was a 50% off sale. I bought both, I had too. The upper one has opt. 01, high stability time base. Lower one has no options, and unfortunately is missing the face plate. Otherwise, both are in great working condition, only out of cal as of this past August.

Anyone know a source for the faceplate? I'll probably end up selling the bottom one, hopefully I can find one or missing it doesn't subtract from the value too much.

Tektronix 1103: Ebay for $75 (not working). I figured I'm buying it for the mechanical plugs and would change out the power supply.

I plug it in.. and it is fully working. No issues with anything. I was a bit disappointed actually....

Just scored an HP 8748a S parameter test set.

These things are nuts.  This test set only works with the 8754a VNA which is a MANUAL VNA (unless you get a digital storage normalizer you're supposed to mark the reference level with a grease pencil on the CRT screen) and yet they're listed for $1K or even more.  I talked with one ebay seller and got one for $150 with shipping which is at least tolerable.

Still need the reference plane set.  RF is a black hole  :palm:

Took a chance & scored an A6312 Tek DC-100 MHz current probe for a very decent $175, in very good physical shape, but completely non-functional (as stated).

I know the probe wiring can be touchy/prone to breaking.  Sure enough, inside the huge chromed connecter (easily unscrews apart), three rather thin (26 gauge?) wire's solder joints were broken at the connector pins.  However, I was confounded by the matchup between the pins & broken wires.  I dug high & low to locate any service info showing a color code or connector hookup...but no luck (does anyone have this info/link?).  Restoring them improperly could burn up the probe!!

Finally, realized I own a working A6302 (50 MHz) probe...and opened its connector up.  While its colors didn't completely duplicate the A6312's, there was enough matching to easily determine where my wires should go.   Got them soldered in a few minutes & everything works perfectly!

I recommend these probes to anyone and everyone in the electronics arena

Another save from the eWaste bin. Never had or used a HPAK scope and from today I have two, the picture below being the eWaste save.

Has some vertical sweep shrinkage, but suspect a quick fix.

More of a tool score, was picking up an item and the seller had a Weller regulated soldering station in nice condition, came with 3 lightly used tips. But the kicker was an unused 500g spool of 62/2Cu/38 rosin core solder. Brought it all for a whopping $7.

The HP squashed screen is fixed, just changed the old electros for new ones and the would be eWaste scope is all good.

I rather like the user interface on this old HP. Just a quick screen adjustment and close it up.

Nicely done, wolfy. Another one saved. Bad caps on the display board are very common in that series. I've got one that needs it, too.

Picked up a couple more in the last couple weeks.  I got the AWG from a member here for $400. The Logic analyzer I got off ebay for $300.  Both work perfecly.  Well, I've only been able to test one pod on the LA, but I have no reason to believe the others wouldn't work.

I picked up a BWD 246B Dual Power Supply last year and am a bit tempted to add to it for nostalgia's sake as the Tech School system in Vic was populated by them in various bits. Space is one of the limiting factors that plus the BS test gear pricing in Oz most of the time :horse:
