The odds are that it suffers PSU / Acquisition board interconnect problems and the transport got you a temporary fix. I find it hard to believe that they didn't find at least a power cord to power it up.

I'm well aware of that power supply rot and I'll be opening it up to take a look at it.
Still, it's not unusual to buy pallets off of a Dovebid auction when someone is clearing house and try to flip them for parts. Well, I'm certainly not going to complain :-DD

Just got a "doesn't power up" HP 5334B on eBay, with a really low offer accepted. It has the 10811A OCXO, but I paid much less than for what I could buy the OCXO itself.
And the nice surprise is that once I changed the blown fuse, it works. I also has the 1.3GHz channel C. Only question is what am I going to do with my 7th counter?

I used the last counter I bought to count the number of counters I had!
