Let's wait for The Steve to tell us...  apparently he has the answer  :-DD
$1500.00
That is almost half the current list price when bought new. Quite risky for a piece of equipment with a defect.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

That is why I didn't buy it myself even though it was offered to me for $1200.00. I was more interested at 400-600. However I didn't want/need another one as I already have one on the bench. I have sold a perfect one before for $2200.00.
End of the day, simple fix, 100% working @ 1500 is still a great score.

That was a good price, since the repair was easy!

It seems like really good deals are disappearing more and more probably because the field of people buying defective instruments is growing. (Not everything is good about eevblog :-DD )

Luckily i already have a decent collection of gear for personal use.

Also once you have enough old gear you still get to indulge in repairs without even buying broken old crap because eventually your own gear starts to break and need fixing.

Also I got this nice 19" rack on wheels (50€), as well as the 2HE Server (without HDDs obviously, 10€) and the two empty 19" cases (5€ each). A question to those: what are they called in english? In german we say "Baugruppenträger", which translates to carrier for assemblies.

We used to call them 'subracks' back in the day

Very true...
Sometimes broken Keithley gear sells for almost as much as the same instrument in working condition.
At least here in Europe.
I am glad, I started years ago with this addiction and the shelfs are filled up.

My old one (53230A) will most likely be up for sale in that same <$2k range as well...

Got myself a HP 3325A in working condition for 13000 yen ($120).

Needs a new fan and I'll probably replace a few capacitors for fun, but it works fine now I plugged in a few dislodged cables inside. Easy fix! :D

I can't have things be that easy, so I reckon I'll have a go at making my own 'Option 002 - High Voltage Output' board to give me 0-40v output on the 0-1MHz range.
Where does all this test equipment keep coming from?!?

I have a spare (parts mule) that just needs a few switches on the front panel replaced. It might even have the HV option in it.

Nice grab! I like my 3325B but I wish it had the old style keys like the A model. Mine had the high voltage option retrofitted to it. If you do add it, just be really careful connecting it to sensitive things like oscilloscopes with 50 ohm impedance selected. It WILL blow it up if you got the wrong settings accidentally. The instrument preset button is a good safety net; it will set the output to 1000 KHz, -56.02 dBm.

Oooh, can you guys take a peek and if you do hae the HV option, can you take a few photos of both sides of the PCB and wiring? :)

And, yep, I'm already feeling a bit wary of that HV output hitting my scope.
I do have a Tek TDS210 and the inputs on that are good for 300v, but I can't say the same for my frequency counters, or the circuits I end up hooking it up to. :D

Hi group,

I know that the HV option for the HP3325A can be cloned. Here are a couple of pictures of my clone:

I did this several computers ago. I had a look for the files and I couldn't find them.

(We should probably make a separate thread?)

Regards,

Yeah, let's make a thread.
I am starting to cross reference all the silicon now.

I'm just picking up my new car this afternoon, but I'll share what I have so far later today.

Hi,

I remember how I did the cloning. I entered the schematic into a CAD system. I then used the picture of the board in the service manual to place all the components in the same place as HP did. I then used the net list to figure out where to put the tracks.

I can remember having to use different phono (RCA) jacks than the original.

I have attached the section from the manual. I have an original paper manual. I think I  worked from the paper version.

I have started a new thread:

As a 555 timer replacement i still like my old HP 8082A
http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/usedequipment/hewlettpackard/signalgenerators/8082a.htm

Essentially a digital output signal generator with an adjustable voltage level and rise/fall time. It has a impressive minimum rise time of under 1ns letting it generate perfectly clean and sharp 100MHz square waves.

Its kinda big for what it does, but its very nice for when you just want to quickly generate a clock or toggle something digital. The UI consisting of nothing but real clunking multiposition switches is also a joy to use.

I've had a spot of luck with fluke gear lately, wish it would catch on with other gear.

Fluke 725 Lot $380 USD
725
5kpsi module
Pump
Pelican case

Fluke 87v Lot $375 USD
3x 87v
3x tpak
3x semi complete sure grip accessory

Fluke 789 $100 USD
Kind of got taken on this one.

Listed as good condition but the Internal battery tab fingers broken so they soldered wires from the tabs to the pads.

selector knob and top case had junk between them that wore out both pieces of plastic.

Fluke 423A 0-3KV supply $45 USD

Fluke 1507 $60 USD

Fluke 179 $90 USD

Damn, you did it again, don't tease me please.  :palm:

Too bad mine is plain vanilla version with no option installed, actually this R&S SML sig-gen series has an option that can do pulse generation & modulation, spec attached below.
