i have been browsing the fourm for some time now; and i can find load of mods regarding bandwidth upgrade  for rigol / hantek / ... devies but they seem to be all for 2channel devices.   I can't seem to find any 4ch upgrades (regarding bandwidth); eg. DS1074Z DZ1074B...  can anyone help me out on this ?

I think your funds will not be enough until someone hacks DS1074 into higher bandwidth (which may or may not be possible). Difference between 70 and 100MHz model of DS1000Z series is quite likely only software lock. For 200MHz it may not be the case, and may not even be possible due to hardware limitations (there's no official model with BW higher than 100MHz).

I love the smell of FR4 in the morning!

so the DS1074 can be hacked from 70 to 10MHz .. (that would be enough for me at the moment)

From this post from seronday:

Anyone who wants to change their new DS1074Z into a DS1104Z use the following Codes:-

DSHA  makes a  DS1104Z with no options enabled .
DSHR  makes a  DS1104Z with all options enabled .

The 3dB bandwidth for the DS1104Z is approx 160Mhz.
The 3dB bandwidth for the DS1074Z is approx 90Mhz.

I remember i've posted exactly 2yrs ago that "Hantek released new gears":

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/reviews/new-hantek-gears-released/

There was even prototype shown on Hong Kong Electronics Fair in 2011. Last year they again on Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2012 there was the same 4ch model, this time with new model name (still prototype). Then finally 4 months ago Hantek said "next month our 4ch MSO will be available"  |O

http://www.hantek.com/en/ProductDetail_3_127.html

That 4ch model from Hantek on their website have anyway only 70MHz bandwidth, no news on higher models. I can only guess that i will be able to hack it, but can't promise anything.

So i would say, don't wait on Hantek and buy a Rigol DS1xxxZ.

I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter ...
I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me.

I went ahead and opted for the DS1074ZS just because it was in stock and SOMETIMES I need a signal generator. Granted I have a DG4062 but having multiple pieces of equipment takes room on the bench and sometimes there just isnt enough room.
