Hi All,
I would like to buy a bench power supply from china. I'm looking for a model that has been reverse engineered, and can therefore be re-flashed with open source firmware.
So far I've found "opendps", open firmware for these PSU's:

Are there other PSU's with open firmware?

Obviously your desire is the Riden open source firmware - does not exist yet.

Alternative firmware images posted frequently, however you can not build it from source. I won't comment on how those images might have came about.

I can't buy that one. (Not even when I'm willing to spend 399+18 dollars to buy a complete kit.)
Chinese is not a requirement. Cheap and open firmware is. (Cheap electronics usually have awful firmware)

If the source is not available, or not complete, can we call it open source?
I am very hesitant to buy something without the ability to change the firmware myself.

Have you thought about what do you really want/need?
1. In case you need a workhorse power supply because you have a practical need, I suggest to be ready for a compromise between features/specs you really need vs. cost and open source. You might end up with multiple power supplies, as many of us did.
2. In case your interest is to develop code for a power supply then the direction is different: you can get going with OpenDPS on DPS5xxx, or perhaps you can roll your own firmware for Riden. Or any other cheap ready made hardware PSU with STM32 MCU you can easily replace, reverse engineer the hardware and roll your own firmware.
3. Maybe you want to develop the hardware and the firmware both - awesome, you'll find plenty of support here.
