Hi All, I would like to buy a bench power supply from china. I'm looking for a model that has been reverse engineered, and can therefore be re-flashed with open source firmware. So far I've found "opendps", open firmware for these PSU's: DPS5005 Uin:6-55V Uout:0-50V Iout: 0-5A Pout: 250W DPS3003 Uin:6-40V Uout:0-32V Iout: 0-3A Pout: 96W DPS3005 Uin:6-40V Uout:0-32V Iout: 0-5A Pout: 160W DPS5015 Uin:6-60V Uout:0-50V Iout: 0-15A Pout: 750W DP50V5A Uin:6-55V Uout:0-50V Iout: 0-5A Pout: 250W DPS5020 Uin:6-60V Uout:0-50V Iout: 0-20A Pout: 1000W https://hackaday.com/2017/03/07/open-source-firmware-for-a-cheap-programmable-power-supply/ https://johan.kanflo.com/hacking-the-dps5005/ https://github.com/kanflo/opendps https://rdtech.aliexpress.com/store/group/DPS-digital-control-power-supply/923042_508466030.html EEVblog #1265 - $53 360W Lab Bench PSU! Are there other PSU's with open firmware? |

Obviously your desire is the Riden open source firmware - does not exist yet. The mega thread on Riden is here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/ruideng-riden-rd6006-dc-power-supply/ Alternative firmware images posted frequently, however you can not build it from source. I won't comment on how those images might have came about. |

Why specifically Chinese? https://www.crowdsupply.com/envox/eez-h24005 |

(Not even when I'm willing to spend 399+18 dollars to buy a complete kit.) Chinese is not a requirement. Cheap and open firmware is. (Cheap electronics usually have awful firmware) |

I am very hesitant to buy something without the ability to change the firmware myself. |
