The current E8257D signal generator I have only outputs 1 GHz reference output. Recently, I need to synchronize two E8257Ds at higher reference clock to imporve the long-term phase coherency.
When I purchased these E8257Ds, I did not add H1S option, which allows you to have 1 GHz reference input.

I looked at the service manual and did some checking from my end, and it seems to me there is a chance I can allow external 1 GHz reference clock in by hacking A7 board (E8251-60348), but wonder if there is anyone who tried this idea before.

what do you guys think about this?
