Interesting, that "grip" looks not as efficient heatsink compared to yours. Though likely the thermal design was changed internally a bit further too.

Cannot check for the next 7 days - hanging around a few thousand miles away from home in California :-) But as I just bought it, it'll be likely a newer one.

Quick question, where did you get these BNC end caps? ;)

I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MM8YHMB

They have a shorting pin that can be unscrewed with a pliers, so more useful than just a dust cover. ;)

Mine also has the "grip"-type heatsink and is showing device version 1.0.

Hello,

when referring to  327.2 Mpts and 981.6 Mpts, does 1 M = 1000000 in the physical sense or 1 M = 1048576 in the computer science sense?

Best regards,
egonotto

BTW: What is the purpose of that strangly shaped metal bracket between AWG module and backside USB ports?
It's a heatsink (Sorry, I must have overlooked your post earlier).

Which Device Version have you got? Mine is 1.0
You ordered the Magnova right after the release, so your device is from the first batch.

We changed the heatsink design later on. After testing a few different options, we found that the tube-shaped version was the most effective in that spot. The main heat sources (CPU, FPGA, RAM, etc.) are thermally coupled to this area, and the pipe structure helps to spread and move the heat more efficiently (somewhat inspired by the Bullerjan stove concept).

The difference is small but if you want, I can send you the updated heatsink. You can replace it without opening the device.

Even with your heatsink, the processor core temperature remains below 70 °C under full load, which is also fine.

when referring to  327.2 Mpts and 981.6 Mpts, does 1 M = 1000000 in the physical sense or 1 M = 1048576 in the computer science sense?

In the physical sense, 1 Mpts = 1,000 kpts = 1,000,000 pts.

I used the magnova today for some noise measurements and noticed (something I also noticed while playing with the demo) that there is no AC-RMS Measurement option. For sure you can AC-Couple the input, but you then still have the ADC-Offset-Voltage in the DC-RMS measurement.
Did I miss a way to measure AC-RMS or is this option simply missing?

Thank you very much. I was too focused on finding word-for-word AC-RMS without thinking for a second about alternatives  :palm:

Thsi is an unsolicited testimonial for Batronix service. When the AWG came for my Magnova, UPS messed up the delivery (to the UK), repeatedly showing it as coming the next day, only for ir not to arrive. (UPS tracking is pointless, basically just showing "in transit", rather than where the parcel is on its way - not what I would call tracking.) After many days of this, I presumed it was lost in transit.

Batronix promptly shipped a replacement by DHL, which arrived in a timely fashion. I had to pay customs duties on each parcel. Very belatedly, UPS delivered the original shipment, and refused to take any responsibility for the additional customs duties or a  return. Batronix stepped in, and sent me a (DHL) return label, and refunded my customs duties. This was all done in a very friendly and pleasant manner.

I've also been impressed by their responses (on this forum, and to my emails) to requests for additional features / fixes to their Magnova firmware.

And all of this is in the context of a personal purchase (compare this to other equipment manufacturers who now only deal with "non-consumer" customers).

Two thumbs up to Batronix customer service!  :-+ :-+

I had the same issue...
Problem solved. Thank you for asking and thanks for the replies!

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I’m glad we were able to resolve the UPS delivery issue to your satisfaction. We always strive to be helpful, fair, and accommodating, so it’s great to hear that this came across well.

Speaking of testimonials or reviews - we’ve had lots of great feedback about the Magnova by email, over the phone, and here on the EEVblog (thanks a lot for that!). Still, there are only a few reviews in our online rating tool, especially on our English web pages.

Since there are several Magnova users in this forum, it would be great if some of you could share your experiences with Magnova using our online rating tool. Your feedback helps others get a realistic first impression of the product from actual users. If you want, you can post a review here:
https://www.batronix.com/shop/oscilloscopes/Batronix-Magnova-BMO350.html#yoReviews

As a thank you, we will randomly select two Magnova reviewers at the end of January and send each of them a €250 Batronix voucher. These vouchers can be used for Magnova accessories or other items from our product portfolio.

Just a few quick notes:
- Please only post a review if you actually own a Magnova, so all reviews reflect genuine user experience.
- The draw will, of course, be completely independent of the review content.
- Please use an email address in the review form that you check regularly so that we can contact the winners. Don't worry, your email address will not be displayed publicly.

I tried leaving a review a moment ago. After submitting it, the review disappeared after refreshing the page. It didn't reappear after confirming the email from yotpo. I think I tried a while ago too. 🤷

All I see is a random review in Portuguese.

Thanks,
Josh

Thank you very much for your review, Josh! I've just checked and it has been received by our review system. It will take some time for the web pages to be updated. So don’t worry if it doesn’t appear immediately. As for the Portuguese review, it seems that one of our videos was much appreciated.

I was playing around with my spectrum analyzer using the Magnova's AWG. This looks good, right?

Thanks,

16dB attenuation, 10+6 taken?

I dunno exactly, I'm sure I hit the auto scale button. ;)

Actual output is 0dBm, and that's what shows on the SA.

It sure does look the same here (sine, 0 dBm, 50 Ohm):
