Maplin Pro2 Multimeter rebadged Fluke 17/19
« on: December 01, 2015, 01:38:08 am »
I came across a Maplin Pro2 Multimeter which I was able to have a look inside and I saw the mainboard was marked Fluke 17/19.

The meter is made in China but is marked on the back as Designed in USA and has Patents. The case had to look of a Fluke (later ones, not the Fluke 25/27) and the engraving on the back is deep Fluke like.

I have attached some pictures.

I would like a manual and the Specs or even the calibration manual for the Fluke 17 or Fluke 19 please if anyone has a source.

All I can find is the Fluke 17B which is a different meter.

Any help appreciated.

Was thinking the same thing. The component selection and layout doesn't look Fluke like at all. Though I  wonder if this could be the original Fluke 17 (not 17B) layout. If so then it's no wonder, that we don't see it now. The quality looks pretty shoddy.

I didn't think Fluke ever let anyone rebadge their meters (See note below), but it looks like this Maplin is a legit version.  A teardown of the Fluke 19 is below.

Dave's notes about the Fluke 19 can be found below.

Fluke did a Craftsman meter rebadge.  I don't remember the exact model number though.  I think it was also a made in China model.

note that R75 (trimpot under the selector wheel) and R77 are missing and an unlabeled cap in the very top right are missing on mine
my revision seems to be 071197H

The board is clearly marked FLUKE 17/19 in the top right corner...

Looking at this post  https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/a-quick-look-at-a-fluke-19-dmm/

I think the Maplin Pro2 is the Fluke 17 which only has a mA range to 400mA, rather than the 10A of the 19 shown; this would explain the slight difference in circuit, and the lack of the 10A shunt wire (on the Maplin it seems to be a wire wound resistor in a plastic tube).

The printing on the back of the case is identical, font and depth of engraving. The serial sticker is also very similar using a similar font.

The Maplin Pro2 has Hold and AutoHold.

I am guessing this is the Fluke 17 spoken in the other post, rebadged Maplin Pro2 as I first thought
