mastech ms8040 vs M9803R

I am a bit confused, M9840 and M9803R look the same, or very similar, just in different color.
I also wonder if the RS232 protocol is the same or different.
The opposite of courage is not cowardice, it is conformity. Even a dead fish can go with the flow
