Maynuo M9710 and RS232 cable for PC connection
« on: December 15, 2014, 02:52:47 pm »
Hi there!

Today I get Maynuo M9710 tester. I need this for mobile power banks and USB chargers.

The device didn't come with RS232 cable to the computer. I need it with the USB plug. So, what do I need to know that I can buy the right cable? I don't have time now to order Maynuo's own (expensive) cable.

Does it work with any RS232 cable with the USB male plug? Can the device be damaged because the wrong cable?

I'm a bit noobie in these hardware issues.  :-//

Hi,

The Maynuo M9710 has no RS232 input, and the in and output of the interface cable are isolated.
You will need a usb to RS232 converter and e.g. an Adum1201 isolator.

You should get the original cable that is offered for the instrument.
It is low cost and works very well.
