Rigol PVP3150 compensation issue
« on: December 05, 2025, 05:16:34 pm »
I have a brand new Rigol PVP3150 probe that i want to use with my Siglent SDS802x scope, but i can't get it compensated correctly.
No matter how i adjust it, there is always this terrible spike/overshoot at the rising edge and i think it's not normal.
Is there something i can do to this probe, or should i just scrap it?

Try hanging it on a radiator for 48 hours. (If you're in a "winter heating zone"), they sometimes trap moisture if they've been stored in a cold room and then moved to a warm one—they trap condensed "steam" from the air. This is how I regenerated two of my three probes after a "trip" in cold conditions.

This probe has been (unused) in my closet almost a year, so i don't think the moisture is problem. But i will try it.

In addition, be sure to "train" it by moving the switch 1/10 X, at least a dozen times, because you don't know what deposits have formed on the contact, let them "wear out".
