Sorry if this is a bit of a newbie dumb question, but I have the following multi-meter - only about 1 month old Just recently I noticed that the display is showing fluctuating result on the dc voltage settings, however it always reset to 0 when I touch the red and black probes which I understand is desireaable. however when I try to measure for example a 1.5v Aa battery the screen display 1 - as if out of range. I've tried the other ranges and get the same. The diode/continuity mode seems to work ok. Any ideas - I tried the battery in another meter and seems ok. |

The difference between cheap and expensive meters is how well they survive "events". Did anything bad happen to it? |

Looks like bad contact on mode switch. Most of all it works in 200 mV mode instead of 2 V due to bad contact. Try to disassemble it and clean contacts with rubber and alcohol. |

Does the AA cell read correctly in the 20V range? |

I'm getting out of range on 20v range too. |
