Metrix 2 channel differential probe unit.
« on: August 05, 2015, 08:29:51 pm »
Browsing the net I came around an announcement of Metrix of new 2 channel differential probe units MTX 1032-B and MTX 1032-C

http://www.chauvin-arnoux.com/en/produit/mtx-1032.html

MTX 1032-C
•  Bandwidth: 50 MHz
•  Compliance up to 600 V/Cat. II
•  Used with coaxial/banana cables and oscilloscope probes

MTX 1032-B
•  Bandwidth: 30 MHz
•  Compliance up to 600 V/Cat. III
•  Used with sets of banana leads

These units can be coupled directly to the scopes of Metrix but also be used as standalone.
This could be very interested for using in a fixed setup on the test bench.

I only wondering about the pro’s and con’s of using such fixed unit or using a separate 1 channel differential (cable) probes?
Any comment or suggestions?

Looks a nice concept to have it in a desktop case :)

But do you have to connect the inputs from the scope on the front as well?

Would have been nicer if they had the inputs from the scope on the back, and just the new isolated inputs on the front! This way you just hook up your scope once on the back, and can't miss with the leads on the front! The front acts as your new isolated scope front-end input.

Do you know a distributor for this product in Benelux or Scandinavia? What is the recommended sales price?

Conrad sells them in their webshop, but usually the sales prices from Conrad are on the high side:

Note that I have 2 DP-30HS high-sensitivity differential probes from a company called Pintek.
Excellent build quality! Most bang for buck differential probes that I know about!

I bought them from Pintek directly! They come in a nice case! Paid about 300 EUR for two.

I have seen similar boxes like the Metrix ones before. Basically a differential probe with BNC inputs instead of banana leads.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
