Micsig Firmware Update?

I thought I'd check for a firmware upgrade for my Micsig MS310IT portable scope, but it seems that Micsig don't have firmware updates availabel for any product?

For TO3004 the last update I get was from September as I recall ... The previous was from February.

There was one for my STO1104C yesterday when I used it and checked for updates, but I havent turned it on since the beginning of the year, so there must have been one since then.

During the To1104 update, it says that there is an internet connection error, approx. I have been getting this message for 1 year.
STO2202C was updated half a year ago, since then there is no other one.
I don't think it's available anymore for old releases.
I asked MICSIG about the latest update a month ago, but I haven't received a reply since then.
I don't count on him anymore.

Yep, they update themselves over WiFi. There was a message saying "update available" about a year ago but it didn't do anything.

Bottom line: No updates.

On the plus side: I don't recall any bugs in my STC1104C.

For my part, I was just hoping that they would add a few new functions.
Pass/Fail, statistics for example.

Why would you expect these to be added? These functions where not promised / specified when you bought the device so there is no reason to expect these (or other) functions to be added. I'm aware some B-brands have made it a business model to put incomplete products onto the market and succesfully hype firmware updates / bug fixes as taking care of their customers but they are not fooling me. The products should have been finished right out of the door. MicSig deserves credit for not doing business like that!

OTOH I also like to know what I get myself into when buying a piece of equipment. A clear specification with what it can do. Nothing more, nothing less. No day-dreaming about what it should do in my opinion and getting mad at the manufacturer for not following my dreams. If a piece of equipment can't do what I need on the day I want take it out of the box, I don't buy it.

When I bought a TO1104, MicSig was upfront about the state of the firmware and promised to add 'data table view' to their protocol decoding. They kept their word and added this in a later update and it works as expected. When doing an in-depth, almost full functionality test of the TO1104, I had to conclude it is one of the least buggy oscilloscopes I have put my hands on. IIRC I have not been able to find a single thing that didn't work as expected / specified.

I haven't seen firmware upgrades for the MSxxx series, like the MS310.
Most software for that older leagacy-line, that pops up is scope-suite and not user upgradeable firmware..

Most of the later Micsig scopes, handle firmware through OTA channels, so you just connect to your WIFI on the scope's inbuilt WIF, and there are dedicated download features/apps for the system's OS, alongside a dedicated app store, where the actual app for the oscilloscope is, alongside other apps, like office, for excel and word etc if the user wanna work with the waveformdata from the scope..also some apps for electronics and apps for FTP access to the scopes folders. for media

Why would you expect these to be added?

you are absolutely right, why would they add another function to an already existing instrument, when they can release another one instead.
they promised, they didn't promise, that doesn't mean they can't give the function later.
When I bought it, I didn't know if these functions would be useful for me.

So many scopes have not yet passed through my hands and I do not develop instruments, so I don't know that they will not be further developed after release, but will only receive bug fixes.
I consider it a bit wasteful if the hardware can handle it.

But if I buy anything from now on, I will keep that fact in mind.

In an ideal world it should be possible for an oscilloscope manufacturer to provide (paid) software upgrades to existing equipment. The problem is that technology moves forward and platforms (=software + hardware) age very quickly. Adding something simple like statistics could mean doing a full OS upgrade on a device which requires re-testing all the software, fixing regression bugs due to new libraries, etc. That could add up to months of extra work an thus making such a paid upgrade super expensive.

Bug fixes, new features, the usual reasons.

Mine does not have WiFi, and that seems to be the only way that MicSig provide updates on products. So no WiFi/internet, no updates

What do you mean by "these Micsig scopes".. - which Micsig scopes are you talking about.. Micsig has quite a few, some center around Linux as perse, while later variants Android/Linux..
But since the thread is around the older isolated MSxxx series.. I don't know what OS they are running, and what you can do in regards to full backup of the ROM on Micsig's MSxxx models that also contain DMM functionality...

- likely not a lot from the looks of it, which seems to be the norm for that era, amongst small isolated handheld scopes with DMM functionality.

Ptluis, It's this MS-line, they were quite expensive, a lot more than the current consumer models from Micsig from the last handful of years..
Here in northern Europe.. the prices were from like +2K and up. (incl. VAT)
