New portable tablet Oscilloscopes from Micsig in the well-known STO-formfactor, though only 2 ch. (for the time being).
Main specifications & brief CN demo.

STO2202
2 ch.
200MHz
8-bit.
270.000wfps (some promomateriel could indicate that its perhaps only 130.000wfps on the STO2202C)
280Mpts
Rise 1.75ns
1ns/div_1ks/div.  [14x10]
Screen 8" TFT LCD [800x600]
CN MSRP 1100 USD [Incl. 7500Mah batt +5 bus dec.]

STO2302
2 ch.
300 MHz
8-bit.
270.000Wfps
280Mpts
Rise 1.16ns
1ns/div_1ks/div. [14x10]
Screen 8" TFT LCD [800x600]
CN MSRP 2150 USD [Incl. 7500Mah batt +5 bus dec.]

The 5 included bus decoding is likely UART, LIN, CAN, I2C, SPI,
and 1553B + 429 is "optional" like we saw on the STO1000 series.

Standard:
2pcs  P135 350MHZ X 10 Passive Probes:
(Input V: <600V DC + AC Peak)
1 PSU input 100~240V-50~60Hz.2A-output DC12V/4A.

Maximum 130,000wfm/s capture rate(270,000wfm/s capture rate in segmented storage mode). By increasing the waveform capture rate, you see a more complete picture of what is going on with the signal.

Brief CN demo.

It seems very similar to current STO1000C/E series except for higher bandwidth, sample rate, more memory and 50 Ohm input. Physical form factor, UI and SW seems to be almost the same, but with some improvements:
  • user defined annotations on screen for channels
  • numerical values for channel offsets
  • segmented memory
  • different probes are supplied with higher BW that have removable ground connnection
  • user adjustable BW filter - already exists in STO1000C/E
  • The lower frequency limit of low-pass filtering is extended to 30Hz

It was not shown if fine adjustments for horizontal and vertical scales were added.
I hope Micsig updates STO1000C/E series firmware with those features as well.

EDIT: updated with information from 2N3055 and hgjdwx, posts below.

Great they show the main board. Dave doesn't need to bother doing a teardown  :-DD
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

STO1000C/E  already has filtering...
But segmented memory would be very nice...

Tried to enhance the new STO2000series (2ch) to compare it componentwise to the older STO1000C/E series.

[boardlabel STO2000 v1x 2020.11.11]

In compare to:
STO1000C [boardlabel Sto1000 v5x 2019.11.20]

[Boardlabel So1000 v1x 2018.10.10]

Thx Peter.
Will edit the specs with it. as some of the info could then be wrong if Micsig now lists both 2ch. STO-models (2302,2202) to have 270.000wfps capture rate
Most sellers list it differently and even the promo-material from Micsig that do look quite official on sites like Taobao/Tmall and others. list it as the STO2202 having 130.000wfps, and the quite more expensive STO2302 having 270.000wfps and that Micsig perhaps were using STO1000E wfps-capture-rates for this model that also seems to have a lower rise.

Were taken from sources like..
https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.6.54ce85c50nvywn&id=639731174804

- Will reach out and get an answer' and also about some of the ST02000C features that I do hope and certainly expect that to some extent will be portraied down to STO1000C/E series.

Hello JL!

Do you plan to add segmented mode into STO1000 series?
That is one important feature I'm missing on mine.

Thanks!!

Best regards

Hi, thanks for looking into user feedback on MicSig scopes.

As mentioned above, segmented memory would be great feature on STO1000C/E series.

Additionally, I use STO1104E (nice scope), but I do not find fine adjustments for horizontal and vertical scales. Currently only default steps are available 1-2-5-10-... us/div (for horizontal) and 1-2-5-10-... V/div (for vertical). Buttons for horizontal/vertical can be pushed (currently not used), this could enable fine mode to get 1-1.05-1.1-1.2-... adjustment. It is very useful in maximizing waveform on the screen without any clipping, measuring. Consider adding this feature if current HW allows it.
Fine vernier is mentioned in EEVblog #1226 - Get Better Accuracy On Your Oscilloscope

Fine adjust is useful, it's a pity my TO1104 doesn't support that. I watched STO1104E overview from Mad's Techhttps://youtu.be/ewM8fLZGF6I and considering to buy STO1104E to replace my old TO1104.  Seems the scope touch operation is more smoother at Android platform. ;D
To be or not to be, who care this question?

its a good scope, I really like the portability with out being tethered to the mains.  However there are one or two things in the video that needs to be explained/ clarified a little. The biggest is around being isolated from mains. its only isolated on battery, the PSU has the DC ground and Earth linked internally so when you use it on mains its still earthed like a normal scope.  where it was said its isolated its only partly true. That will be clarified shortly.
A little bit Mad here and there.

Actually scopes like these are not designed to be used for floating high voltage (mains) measurements! They are not designed for that purpose from a safety perspective!

If you want to make high voltage measurements either buy a properly CAT rated differential probe OR an oscilloscope with CAT rated isolated inputs. Anything else is just unsafe and is waiting to kill you.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Yes fully agreed but its a little safer than the "lets cut the earth" approach many take.  just a little though. as you say a DP really is a must on mains work.

On my bench there is always something laying in wait to put me in a box, its a cat and mouse game this far :phew:

No, not at all. You can still touch the BNC connectors and other (not so obvious) metal parts (like screws in the rear of the casing) which may carry a lethal voltage level (and current). The whole point of an isolated device it that you can't touch live parts!

The only real advance of a battery power instrument is to use it for floating low voltage (<48V DC) measurements without being worried about noise from the switching mains power supply being pushed into the DUT.

You can unlock STO1104C to STO1104E quite easily by using EFT Pro and Samsung ODIN3 tool. At first you must dump oscilloscope ROM to file. Then split ROM to file system Folders and bootloader file, cut spare space and then modify files responsible for S/N number  and model parameters setting. Then you must load back to oscilloscope part of memory with modified model parameters. You can also probably able to add label function, segmented memory option from STO2000 series models, but I never tried this. So I think it does not make sense to pay more for STO1104E model. HW in model C and E is identical. Motherboards in both are the same STO1000_V5X_MB. Of course STO2000 HW is different. I think there will be somebody who will make complex tool for hacking/unlocking micsig STO1000 series features similary as with Siglent oscilloscopes.

Hello to Micsig_support,

I bought Micsig STO1104C oscilloscope but there is no 0,5mV Vertical Scale setting while 20MHz filter limit engaged as advertised in datasheet. Probe setting is set to 1X. Older to1104 models has it. Why? Is the newer model downgraded?

Hi, there is no 0.5mV options in STO1104C.
here is the picture of 20MHz filter.  it is in the channel setting.

Hello Micsig_support,
The your datasheet on: https://www.batronix.com/files/Micsig/STO1000/STO1000C-data-sheet.pdf claims, that it support 500uV/div when 20MHz limit is enabled. So I bought it from Batronix because of this feature for measure low noises and small glitches on my audio DAC project. So this datasheet is incorrect. See attached picture. I dont understand why TO1104 series has this feature and newer STO1104 NOT.

In the past there was much better version Micsig-TO204A+ see: https://www.batronix.com/shop/oscilloscopes/Micsig-TO204A+.html
In supported 200 MHz bandwidth, 2 GSa/s and 90 Mpts memory depth. Extra fast capture rate: up to 500.000 wfms/s. It is a pity that they stopped producting this and all new versions are less capable.

TO204A is our first generation oscilloscope. there are some functions which need hardware supports, but we did not do it in the beginning.

And just tell you slightly, we will have better innovative and new scopes later. ..thanks.
