Title: Mitutoyo Digital ABS CoolantProof Calipers IP67
Post by: w.v.s. on May 20, 2024, 02:18:27 pm
Hi,

I've bought a set of heavily mistreated (electronics seem to be intact, display broken, but data output works) absolute Mitutoyo calipers. How the sensor system looks like for the standard calipers, can already be found on web-pages like this one: https://www.grant-trebbin.com/2014/04/digital-calliper-teardown-and-repair.html (https://www.grant-trebbin.com/2014/04/digital-calliper-teardown-and-repair.html). I did not find similar material for the absolute scales, but was curios so I did a bit of tear-down, which I start sharing today. I seems to work with inductive coupling between the center lanes and the two outer lanes. We can see the phase difference between the center and outer lanes gradually changing along the scale.

Here is the sensor PCB, the second picture with increased contrast.

Here are the start and the end of the scale shown in detail.

And this shows how the depth bar is fixed (probably welded) to the slider.

I anyone knows, where I could buy that type of LCDs, please let me know.
