Are you trying to create another thread about HW hacking the MSO ? ?   ;D
Sure, my suggested hardware hack is to drill a half-inch hole in the bottom of the scope and bolt it to my bench.

Thanks, if I had to, it would be an easy job to go back in and replace the encoder. It's back in, glued and soldered down, it works, I'm leaving it as is for now.

Fortunately the keyboard PCB is pretty ordinary.  I would not want to work on the main PCB, it would be near impossible.  A while back I did a PCB for a Zynq FPGA and it was a 0.4mm pitch BGA, I think I managed to get it working with a 10-layer PCB and via-in-pads.
If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer
