Title: MTester no version on LCD - how to check the version?
Post by: Chriss on May 09, 2019, 07:07:23 pm
Hi!
I got today a cheap MTester from ebay.
It is working very well, but I'm curious which firmware is in my tester,
because I can't determine the FW version by starting the device.
I saw on several videos and descriptions does they have on the startup screen MTester x.xx version.

Maybe I would update my hardware with a more accurate firmware or with a newer one if it is needed.

Or, if you guys/girls have a better firmware what I should upload to my device then my I assume china clone ,
that would be also nice to me.  :D

Thank you for any idea and help.
My best regards.

K or m-firmware. In case of insomnia you might want to read https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/$20-lcr-esr-transistor-checker-project/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/$20-lcr-esr-transistor-checker-project/). ;D

Thanks for the quick reply, I read that and similar articles here on the forum and also on mikrocontreoller web page too, but I didn't got any idea how to identify my FW in my device.

My device looks exactly like this:

And hase an ATmega328 uC and 8MHz oscillator.

What is the most usable firmware what you are use with this device?

Thanks.

Your tester's firmware is a modified k-firmware with a fancy UI added, but less functionality because of the flash usage by the fancy UI. The best firmwares are the k and the m-firmware. If you have trouble with choosing one buy another tester and run both firmwares. ;)
