TEK2440 set probe attenuation
« on: August 25, 2020, 07:41:18 pm »
Hello mates,

i'm kind of ashamed to ask this but, where on earth should I change my probe to X10 on a tek 2440?

The only thing the user guide metion is it automatically adjusted when used tek coded probes, but I'm using just a regular probe.

You can't. It is automatic only, there is no way to manually override.

What were tek engineer thinking?

Does anyone knows the resistor values for setting at x1, x10, x100 and x1000?

They wanted you to use their probes.

Open, 10K, 20K I think and not sure.
A dig around the internet should find the values.

Sensing probes aren't that expensive, you should get some.

Had a little fun now..

X1 - 15 to open
X10 - 10k, 12K
X100 - 7K
X1000 < 3K to short

Sensing probes aren't that expensive, you should get some.

I agree, but just a few of my probes are from tek, sometimes a no brand chinese to mearure 100Khz is just fine hehehehehe

Anyway, I like the self detection probe, very useful, but come'on tek, what were you thinking for not leaving a damn menu to choose...
Lets say I have a weird 250:1 probe, can't u left some custom value to fill, just like you do in the newer scopes?

Here's some tables for probe readout pins:

There's not consistency between manufacturers, or even between models from the same manufacturer.
