Another Rummage Sale Find!
« on: June 29, 2014, 01:07:30 pm »
I was with my son yesterday at a few rummage sales and found a fantastic old school digital multimeter. Never seen one before like this but it looks to be 1970's vintage. It is a Micronta Volt/Ohm DMM with a beautiful bubble LED display. I have not been able to find much on this unit yet but still looking. I would like to get the original manual and advertisement sheet if one exists so I can add it to my collection of classic antique test gear. Battery was crusty and corroded but did not effect the battery leads nor the unit. Put a new 9V battery in and as Dave would say. "Bob's Your Uncle!". I have no test leads, but I'm sure I can make a pair for testing the accuracy and functionality. I think I'm going to do a quick video of the unit for anyone interested.

More to come. Cheers!

If you have any info on this unit please feel free to post it!

Also, for those who still use or experiment with older vacuum tubes, I scored 3 large boxes of mixed tubes, most all look new. There has to be a couple hundred in all. Got them all for a dollar.

Sweet. Thanks for the post. I did find some info after the initial post that it was a Clive Sinclair design. Very cool indeed.

Grabbed a set of 4mm banana plugs and threw it on the bench tested both V/Ohm and the unit works great! It's not terribly accurate but for the time not bad.

Opened another box and grabbed these beauties for another 1 dollar! I believe these are US Navy Radar CRT's of some sort. Excellent condition, not sure if they work. I have no way of testing them but it's a great piece of history.

I'm guessing the 2 with the "Hundreds of Feet" scales were more likely from an early radio-altimeter used in aircraft.  I'd think that 2000 feet would be too short a range for any sort of naval based radar.  In any case, very  8).
Don't replace the cap, just empty the filter!

Nice, the one I picked up is in a beautiful condition! I don't think it was used much.

You are probably right, I don't know much about these but 1 or 2 of them, don't remember which has the US Navy logo printed on the neck.
