since you have posted elsewhere too, why don't you open the meter take some photos to show the inside, could be some resemblance to other models in the MX seriesif the meter is flat on the table does the needle is zeroed on the mark ?
There are four trimpots, indeed.But before fiddling with any trimpots, you should assure that the battery voltage is correct. It doesn't look right from the photo you have posted. What value does the needle show in lowest ohms range with the input leads shorted?
