However with something magical known as a Tracking Number I can also track the order without having to install someone's custom app to do it.  Is this just Shop being pre-emptive to get me to install their app?
When the package ships you'll get an email from sales@eevblog.com with a URL that has a tracking number.

Correct, that's just Shopify trying to spruik their app, you don't need it.

Just processed it, you should now have the tracking number.

This meter is now supported by TestController.
Thread: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/program-that-can-log-from-many-multimeters/
Download: https://lygte-info.dk/project/TestControllerIntro%20UK.html

The meter can be used on Windows, Linux and Mac. The interface is a two part interface, first part is from DMM to DB9 serial connector, second part is a serial to USB adapter, both are included in the Brymen serial kit.

Here is an example of recording mains voltage Actual sample rate was 1/sec, i.e. I can zoom/search in on details):

Bottom of table:

64000 samples over 17 hours is easy for TC, it can handle much larger samples sizes and longer times.

It is possible to connect multiple meters to TestController and do calculations on the values, save csv files and do some large readouts on a computer. TC can also calculate the same statistic as a bench meter.

Hey fellas, hey Dave, forum newbie here. I've been doing digital PCB designs for a few years and the best multimeter I have is a mid-1990's model (apparently a Nilsen BX-905AC....Australian company but it may be just a re-brand). The BM2257 looks like a great mid-ranger, I figure that going to a 121GW or upcoming BM787BT would be overkill for my purposes. Even just a readable screen would be a big improvement, considering that mine has no backlight and the LCD has some serious screen burn so the characters are hardly visible. Certainly overdue for an upgrade.

Welcome to the forum.
Yes the BM2257 will be a nice upgrade, it's has a big readable screen, and unless you need the extra resolution or accuracy the 121GW or BM786/787 could be overkill.
