The my 789 appears to have about the same contrast is the 786s. Shown with the lab light, backlights on and outdoors. Angle will make a big difference as well. Sometimes when comparing so many meters, I have to tilt them just right to get a decent shot. https://youtu.be/pPCtnQa0Thc?t=979 |

I don't understand why all these fancy meters aren't be as contrasty as a freebie DT830B. What gives? :-// (eg. are the freebies overdriving something so that the display won't last very long?) |

Hello, So, I have sent back the BM789 and have the refund of it. Also, I have found an youtube video from Dave which shows the solution to fix the LCD contrast on the BM235, @9min39s: As the BM789 has exactly the same chipset, like I was thinking previously, the resistor for the contrast setting is not good. Maybe someone would try to change the value and probably fix the issue ? |

Got a BM786 returned with a reported fluctating low value on ohms, never gets to zero, continuity buzzer going off on it's own etc. Touching range switch causes some change. Completely repeatable. I test the meter and absolutely nothing wrong. Switch contamination that got wiped away? :-// |
