This is specific meter for Photovoltaic installations and such.
It is not in any way replacement for 87V.

Ploy? I don't care much about conspiracy theories.
And if they do, what do I care?
And 87V dies plenty, when used in rough places.

I do think it's a good replacement for the 87V. The higher CAT rating is a good thing. No direct current measurement is fine as I never use that function for the work I use the 87V for and save from the mistake of having the test leads in the wrong ports. However, the battery life is not good and it's as big as the 87V Max and not having as good an IP rating or drop protection as the 87V Max. The FC function is useful.

It is not functional replacement for anybody in any way...

It's functional replacement if all you ever use it for is to measure voltage.

(which is what a lot of these people probably do)
