New Fnirsi Waveform Generator TSG6030 30MHz and TSG6020 60 MHz
« on: December 02, 2025, 05:48:02 pm »
I just got an email from Fnirsi with this.https://www.fnirsi.com/products/tsg6020

•Dual channels, maximum output frequency of 60MHz / 30MHz, and maximum output amplitude of 20Vpp.
•High-precision DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) technology with 200MSa/s sampling rate and 14-bit
vertical resolution.
•Utilizes innovative technology for reduced overshoot, faster edges, and higher accuracy
in square/pulse/ramps. Duty cycle, pulse width, edge time, and symmetry are finely adjustable.
•Utilizes innovative technology to output arbitrary waveforms point by point, delivering
low-jitter signals within a 4Kpts length using a continuously variable sampling rate from 1Sa/s to
200MSa/s, while preserving every waveform detail.
•7-digit high-precision frequency counter compatible with TTL-level signals.
•Supports storage of 24 sets of non-volatile digital arbitrary waveforms.
•Rich analog and digital modulation capabilities: AM, FM, PM, ASK, PSK, FSK.
•Frequency sweep output supported.
•4.3” TFT-LCD touchscreen with dual operation modes: touch and keypad.
•Standard interfaces include USB Device and Type-C power input; supports mobile power banks for field
testing scenarios.

I'm pretty much a budget equipment aficionado. My use cases support my choice of equipment.

Only $179. What a bargain. I'd love to test that against a real sig gen.

I'm sorry that there is no built-in battery, but it works from USB-c, so a powerbank could be an option.

I would have liked an Owon HDS-sized one, but it doesn't seem too big either, but it's not the travel size.

I hope some good videos will come out of this.

Price seems great if indeed it meets it's specifications.  That puts it in the same range as the Juntek PSG9080.  It would be interesting to see how they stack up.

However, I don't love the formfactor.  It's cute and all, but you can't stack anything on top of it.  It's either going to take up lateral space on the instrument shelf, or it needs to be on the top of the stack.  At least the Juntek is stack friendly.

Some spec comparisons.  Of course, there is more to consider than these.

Code: [Select]
Juntek PSG9080 FNIRSI 6020

Sine 80MHz 60MHz
Square 30MHZ 24MHz

Modulations 8 6 (No PWM?)

Not surprisingly, the Fnirsi looks like a toy compared to the Juntek. I dunno if the Juntek is any good, but it at least looks like a serious device by comparison.

I have PSG9080 in my office.  It's not bad.  It could use a less noisy internal power supply, but other than that seems to perform as advertised.   The cabinet is not metal.  It's tough plastic, but that does make it feel a little janky.  I don't handle it much though.  It just sits on the shelf and I use it.

Buy the Fnirsi, and have your cat knock them both off the desk and see which survives. ;)

I think FNIRSI made a marketing mistake by releasing two similar models with a difference of only $20 between them. As proof, the 30MHz ones did not have the same success as the 60 MHz ones even though they are cheaper and remained unsold. Frequencies higher than 30 MHz are only needed for more elaborate projects or laboratory work. They could have taken inspiration from RIGOL's marketing, by unlocking certain functions or performances only through a software upgrade, for a fee of course. So FNIRSI, what are you going to do with my money that is waiting for a new restocking for the 60 MHz model ?

Do you have more elaborate laboratory work?  If not, there seems to be plenty of 30MHz units available for you.   :-+

I don't do elaborate lab work, more small metrology experiments, it's a personal passion. I like measuring instruments, especially those with high precision. Normally I wouldn't need this 60 MHz FNIRSI, I already have a RIGOL Rigol DG1022 20 MHz which is way above FNIRSI. I already have a diverse range of FNIRSI products and I would like this product too, nothing more. I would buy it just for my personal pleasure.
List of my FNIRSI:
01. FNIRSI 2D15P Oscilloscope - Dual Channel 500MSas Sampling Rate 100MHz
02. FNIRSI DPOS350P 350MHz - Tablet Oscilloscope 1GSa_s 2Channel
03. FNIRSI DPS-150 - FNIRSI DPS-150 Mini DC Adjustable CNC Programmable Power Supply 30V-5A
04. FNIRSI DST-210 - Handheld Digital Multimeter Oscilloscope 10MHz Bandwidth DDS Generator 3in1
05. FNIRSI FNB58 - USB Fast Charge Tester
06. FNIRSI HRM-10 - Battery Voltage Internal Resistance Tester 18650 High-precision
07. FNIRSI SWM-10 - Smart Spot Welder
08. FNIRSI FNB48P USB Fast Charge Tester
Tektronix DMM4050, FLUKE 279FC, FLUKE 185, FLUKE 83 V, BRYMEN BM869s, BM235, Rigol DS1052E, Rigol DG1022, ANENG AN8008, UT18C, UT20B, UT116C, UT118B, UT120C, UT123T, UT131A, UT210E, UT658, PROTEK 506, HUNG CHANG HC-81, HUNG CHANG DM27.

No worries.  All of use with TEA can sympathize.

I have all the FNIRSI stuff you have and more.  Tomorrow I'll be giving most of it away, along with a pile of other stuff, to a couple of local high schools that run after class robotics programs.  For now I'll be keeping the DPS-150, DPOS350P, FNB48S, FNB58, LCR-ST1, HRM-10 and all my HS-01 and HS-02 soldering irons.

A correct choice, we are on the same wavelength. In my youth, in the laboratory at the company where I worked, I also had professional tools, mostly HAMEG. I don't know if I can still afford them at home for my experiments now. Now let's be serious, if you want a decent tool, for example a RIGOL or UNI-T DSO, you have to dig deep into your pocket. FNIRSI currently offers a much cheaper alternative for those without too high demands.

Oh, it's quite sad on my side.  I have all the "expensive" stuff too.  Multimeters (both handheld and benchtop) from Fluke, HP, Owon, Brymen, Zoyi and Siglent, Generators from Juntek, Siglent, and HP (that one goes to 1GHz!), oscilloscopes from Tektronix, Siglent (3 of those) and an old Heathkit, Power supplies from my own design, HP, Siglent, Anatek, DC loadsd from my own design and Siglent.  And the list goes on.  I'm afraid there is no hope for me.  :palm:

I'm glad there are still people as passionate as you, but unfortunately my possibilities are very limited from a material point of view in this chapter. For example, I have invested something substantial in hand tools, I like to create my own kits, with tools from various famous manufacturers.

Nice!  Weller Erem!  That must have cost a pretty penny.  I have a couple of Erem flush cutters, so I know how much these things cost.
